Post by Mr Wallstreet »

Buffy #40 - Angel kills Giles; Buffy destroys the egg which removes all magic from the world & prevents any future slayers from becoming slayers and most (if not all remaining slayers) loathe Buffy for her decision to destroy the egg; the scythe is destroyed; Giles wills all his possessions save the Vampyr book to Faith;

Star Wars Legacy War #2 - Cade Skywalker's mother Nyna's cover as a double agent for Roan Fel has been blown; Darth Krayt has returned and now the universe is in open rebellion against the Sith after the genocide of the planet Dac. Master Chalk, a close member of Roan Fel's personal cabinet as been revealed to be a traiter & working with the Sith. Jedi Master Antares revealed the location of the hidden Jedi Temple on Ossus under torture; Antares' old master manipulated him into giving up valuable information by making him believe he would kill the princess if he didn't.

Avengers #9 - The members of the Illuminati are finally revealed to the Avengers in the midst of the theft of the infinity gems and Captain America all but shits a brick over it and wants to chuck Tony out of the Avengers

Streets of Gotham #19 - A brief tale of the early days of the Joker. I can't remember what all else actually happened here but it must've been good; it was Paul Dini writing

iZombie #9 - Again can't remember what's going on but I remember enjoying the shit out of it

Brightest Day 19 - Have to say, I'm pissed they killed the Hawks. Sounds like they won't be coming back, and sounds like it's possible that some of the remaining 11 will die. The Aquawar begins and I sadly could care less. It appears the White Lantern Avatar is a dick and let the other group into the world. Black Manta is a fucking douche for cutting off Arthur's hand. Wonder if it's the same hand? I did love the "aren't you used to it by now?" blurb Black Manta did. All in all, while I enjoy the series, I hate how unlike 52 it is in the way that it doesn't spend equal time on all parts of the group. While everyone does have issues that are focused on them, I just wish there were at least 1 page to show the others involved.

I've been upset about the character showcase as well, but in the book's defense I will say this:

There were issues of 52 that did not focus on some characters, just like Brightest Day issues that don't show characters. BUT, with 52 having 1 issue EVERY week, regardless of the number of weeks in a month, you didn't always recognize a 2-3 issue gap of not seeing Animal Man and Adam Strange or Booster Gold and Skeets, because in 3 weeks they'd pop up.

In Brightest Day, when you get 2 Aquaman issues only in a row, that's an entire month, and at times 5 weeks in between the last time you saw say the Hawks, with only 2 issues in between, which makes it feel like a longer period of time. So they're doing the same formula, but with fewer issues in between absences, it feels like those absences are longer.

But yes, because of all of that, it is annoying when people are gone for 2-3 issue stretches.

Yep. I'm trying to think of when we last saw the Martian Manhunter and I really can't. Given that we have, what, 5 issues left? How can he accomplish his goal? Especially with the whole Firestorm vs Deadstorm (or whatever it's called). Makes me mad they cut it from 26 to 24 issues...
