DO YOU LIKE COMIC BOOKS?!?! Shipping Feb 2nd

Post by Tragic Angelus »

Jebus, I spend all day grading papers and giving out homework and dealing with unruly teenagers, and I can't come home to the shipping list in a timely fashion?

BRIGHTEST DAY #19

Maybe:

LEGION OF SUPER HEROES ANNUAL #1

Huh... simple week. Might make that LoSH annual a definite.. though last week's books, plus the last 5 issues of FF made for one hell of a hurt on my wallet, so I might just hold at the 1 book this week. I could use it.

For me:

Maybe DC Universe Online #1, just because I'm curious.

Definitely not picking up the DC Universe Online series now that I found out it's 26 issues. Thought it was a mini, not a maxi. And I'm guessing it's not set in continuity? Another turnoff for me =o/

So far it's basically the Brightest Day replacement in terms of a bi-weekly release, unless something else comes to follow up BD and JL:GL when they end, which is possible but with nothing announced yet they seem to be launching this just a few months early. Maybe for an easier transition and enough word of mouth to make people want to switch to it when the others end?

Yep, yet it's starting now. And did you see that Brightest Day and Generation Lost were cut down to 24 issues instead of 26 to (probably) make way for Flashpoint? I'm a bit annoyed at that...

really? I didn't realize that. But see, I was getting confused that they were 26 to begin with. If we're getting 2 issues a month for 1 year, doesn't that equate to only 24 issues as it is? I understand 26 being the halfway for 52 issues in a year, but that's a 13 month story rather than a 12 month like i thought it would be. The ending for the book is rather confusing for me in terms of the number.

In the April solicits for each series they had #23 say "leading up to the conclusion" and then #24 saying "double sized issue". For Brightest Day it states for #24: "A long shadow is cast across the world in a a finale that will have everyone talking!"

Huh. Could be double sized if they've taken it down to 24, by adding 24 and 25. But I won't be surprised if they do a One shot finale type to wrap a lot of the stories up, including those in other books, like they did with the 0 issue to start it all off with. Suppose we'll find out in the next set of Solicits

Marvel is doing a company wide .1 issue as a jumping on point for major titles.

Kind of recap introduction issues I think.

I don't know about all of them, but I know the Uncanny .1 issue is an all Magneto issue, while the same regular number one has an entirely different solicit description. Probably need to check the others to be sure tho.

Point One is a shitty gimmick to get attention for Marvel. That's it. It's intended to be a jumping on point for a new story line with a new reader friendly story. Instead it just confuses people (as shown above).

I was actually talking with my retailer about this and he said they should have just made them one-shots because the Point One is just stupid and annoying. At least Marvel has the Point One issues as $3...

Yeah, they are not the same issue.
I didn't have the patience to read the interviews and find out if you could, for example, understand what happens in Iron Man 501 if you haven't read 500.1.
