Green Lantern Full Trailer

Post by Tragic Angelus »

I'll say this, that is MUCH better than the short clip released around Friday of last week. Clear footage, much more drama and action incorporated. I was very worried it'd be too comedy heavy on Reynolds, but so far I really like the scene where he is talking to Abin Sur.

Things of note:

Tomar-Re looked really good!

Sinestro looked AWESOME!!!! I only saw him one time, but he looked damn damn damn good.

Kilowag looks good, but he looks just a bit different than the images I'm used to.

Check out the Star Sapphire emblem on the side of Carol's Flight Helmet! You'll have to pause it and see it, but it's there!

What do you guys think?

I do feel tho that Black Lively is very much overacting as Carol in her few lines. But that's all we've seen of her so far so I don't know what to go on just yet.

Way, way better than the clip.

I still think the movie will only be above-average though.

Than again, the source material, Hal Jordan, is barely above average.

Also, wrong forum.

Yeah, if someone wants to move it feel free. The boards been acting terrible for me the last two days, with longer load times and random jumps, so I hadn't realized i was in another place.

There are still parts that make me think it won't be as good as it could be, and part of it seems to be found in the CGI suit, especially the mask. I think this is the first hero we'll have with a domino mask, shy of Robin, and it really doesn't seem to be working well.

That looks like a terrible movie, to be honest.

This trailer is a vast improvement over the one I previously posted. Everything about it looks better. The CGI outfit, for me, takes a bit of getting used to but it fits with the character. As a GL, Hal's ring creates his costume, so it stands to reason it wouldn't be a typical "spandex" suit. The suit is also a far cry from what I felt it looked like when the still image was released. Seeing it in motion made quite a bit of difference for me. Also the quality of trailer also helped give me a better view of the costume in motion & as well just stationary.

Some of the criticism is that Hal is a boring character, however I disagree, but even if Hal is truly boring, the choice of casting Ryan Reynolds as Hal will really help the film. Reynolds is a young, fun & likable guy who actually can act. Unfortunately, I agree with Tragic that Blake Lively seemed to be overcompensating in her one scene but again, it is only one scene who knows. I'll reserve judgement on her performance until I see the entire film.

The scenes with Tomar-Re, Abin Sur, Kilowog, Sinestro & OA were breathtaking. They clearly didn't scrimp on special effects like with the Wolverine Origins film.

I will definitely see this is in IMAX when it comes out and knowing Tragic he'll probably see it in IMAX, 3-D & IMAX 3-D ;)

I will REFUSE seeing it in 3D, as I absolutely cannot stand that gimmick take on making EVERY FUCKING MOVIE in 3D. I would however probably opt for the IMAX experience, but I'm leery. It's hella expensive, and there's only 1 IMAX theater in the state and it's an hour away, and when I saw The Dark Knight in IMAX I wasn't impressed by the 'special' side of it. Though I had seen DK on a regular screen so I don't know if that affected it first or not, but I think it did.

So the question then becomes: See GL standard first to see if it's 1. good and 2. IMAX worthy, or see GL in IMAX first and find out it's either worth it or terribly terribly bad and I spent 2x the amount of money to see it that way.

Yeah, they really shouldn't end the trailer on that shot of Reynolds changing into the Green Lantern costume. It looks it's been taken directly from Amercan Pie 12 or something shit movie like that.
I don't think I'll go see this one.

And where the hell is the oath?

I agree, that ending costume change shot is just... I get it's the 'whoa hey look what I can do now' kind of scene, but I don't care for how it's done too much.

And they totally teased us with the Oath there.

Also the Power Battery looks way to gothic and different than the traditional one from what I've seen. Reminds me more of the Indigo Staff than the GL Power Battery.
