NYCC Happy Hour at Dave & Busters

Post by Mr Wallstreet »

Bo-ring

It started at 5:30; I left work at 6, and got there at 6:30. No creators were present at all. Just a handful of Con organizers and about 2 dozen fans. I chatted up a few other fans and found out what was going on.

All the NYCC Happy Hour really was, was a get together for comic/anime fans to speak to one another. Some of the people who were there were aspiring writers and artists and had brought some pads and sketchbooks looking to make a few contacts.

The highlight of the event was a raffle at 8:00pm where the Con organizers gave away some memorabilia; some of which was lame and some of which was cool. A little less than half the memorabilia from the raffle was for the Terminator: Salvation film, the other stuff was variant cover comics, a few signed comics, t-shirts, hats, shot glasses, a NYCC beach bag and a $50 gift card for Midtown comics.

Unlike, last time the raffle was free so I entered and but didn't win anything. Immediately after the raffle was over I left. Though I did chat up some pleasant fans, it really wasn't what I expected. So XIII and Stocky, don't be too upset, you didn't miss anything remotely special.

I figured that would be about what it would be. I still can't figure out why they bothered organizing theses.

They said creators would be present. You should have found that Fensterman dude and complain about it.
