National ______ Day
April 15th - 19th is Consumer Awareness Week . April 17th is World Hemophilia Day , I doubt it entails any celebration, but promotes awareness and generates donations. Apparently, April 18th is National Record Store Day , where everyone is encouraged to hang out at their local (or distant) record st...

Scary Books
I haven't been able to find it to verify it, but this short list is supposed to be Simple Living Magazine's Top Six Scary Books. Anyone care to agree or disagree with their (alleged) findings? 1. The Exorcist - William Peter 2. The Haunting of Hill House - Shirley Jackson 3. The House on the Borderl...

Graphic Novels in Bookstores... Go Where?
On another board there's a small comic forum and there was a discussion/argument about where graphic novels should be placed in bookstores. A few people said all the graphic novels shouldn't be lumped together in one section because they disapprove of horror/literary/historical graphic novels being ...

Ban the Spam for the Environment!
A study into spam has blamed it for the production of more than 33bn kilowatt-hours of energy every year, enough to power more than 2.4m homes. The Carbon Footprint of e-mail Spam report estimated that 62 trillion spam emails are sent globally every year. This amounted to emissions of more than 17 ...

Snakes on a Plane
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8001644.stmAn Australian airliner was grounded after four baby pythons escaped from their container in the aircraft's hold.
Okay... so this is more like Baby Snakes on a Plane, but it's still kinda cute... and kinda scary...

Feel the Burn
Anyone getting an exercise in these days? Heading to the gym, walking more, got some classes they attend? Spring's a great time to get up and get moving. ^_^ We have a fiendish elliptical machine, but I love how low impact it is. We have a gym membership too, but well, we haven't used it in a while....

My brother, the eternal spoil-sport talked me out of it with the only argument that wuz gonna work. Not the ridiculousness of dressing up, but the ridiculousness of a twenty-something dressing up as a five-or-so-year old. Sigh. There wuz no arguing with that. Remind me (a twenty-something) to act l...

We picked up Scalped volume 1 & 2 yesterday. I was going to spring for the 3rd (Dead Mothers) but Adam strayed and wanted to buy Doktor Sleepless, heh. ^_^ I've only read the first chapter of Scalped 1, but I've enjoyed it thus far. And I think Arn's earned himself a rep for being the most vocal abo...

RIP Lorne
I am so sorry Eddie. :bigcry: Andy Hallett, who starred as Lorne ("the Host") on the TV series Angel, died of heart failure last night at age 33, according to his longtime agent and friend Pat Brady. The actor passed away at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles after a five-year battle with heart di...
