Whitechapel (spoilers)

Post by Mr Wallstreet »

I just finished watching the entire series on Amazon prime. It's a great British procedural crime drama in the vein of Luther but with a hint of Supernaturual sprinkled in it. The charectors are deeply broken and human in a way I had not seen on Luther. Most of the time on, not just a procedural, you'll get a series of charectors who have run of the mill flaws. Rarely do you get a drama in which the lead charector has an almost debilitating phobia that actively prevents him from doing his job properly.

Having watched all 4 seasons I am sad that a 5th season was not made as there is one major & several minor (but no less intriguing) dangling plot lines that were not resolved. The major one being the supernatural elements that seem to haunt the Whitechapel district and the station house. DC Kent's sexual orientation; the old lady who seems to be every where.

Did anyone else see it and if so what were your thoughts?

The series are pretty short. It's 4 seasons at 45 minutes per episode. Seasons 1 & 2 are 3 episodes each.

There is another major subplot that was unresolved involving the suspects of each of their cases. I won't say more than that for fear of spoiling it.

I sometimes wish Stocky was a hard bitten world weary seen-too-much detective

I just saw the first episode, which was pretty good indeed.

Too bad I can't find season 4 online anywhere. Without paying, of course.

Fucking. Told you.

Do you know of anymore British procedurals or crime dramas?

I was trying to watch Broadchurch but I was having difficulty getting into it

Spooks. Anyonw should watch Spooks. It's spy-stuff, though.

There are many great BBC procedurals. The one with Gillian Anderson is very good as well. And The Missing is top acting. I'm sure there are many others, but those are the ones on top of mind (and Broadchurch).

No Offense was quite fun. Life On Mars is an absolute must.
Also see, but not crime, State of Play and The Hour.
