Archery!

Post by Sandman »

Well I just bought a bown and arrow set, and I have to say I SUCK!! but I am getting better! The problem was that I am sorta ambidextrus I had no idea what was my "draw" arm once we figured that out I went outside at the place to practice. the problem there was the guy was a righty and kept the arrow on the righty side. so EVERY shot was WAAAAAAY off like I wanted to slink off I was no where near it. but once we figured out that it was in the wrong place I was hitting the target. I figured this would be a fairly cheap hobby over the summer and it is something I have wanted to learn for a long time

Whenever I go to RenFest I always have to do the archery, always fun. If I had a backyard I'd buy a set...

hard to draw on some bows.

My dad tried to show me how to use one when we hunted. Never got into it...and now I don't hunt. Cool weapon for zombie apocolypse, though. I should consider moving it to my safe-shed.

You could perch in a tree and pick off zombies all day long if you knew how to make arrows.

And they're quieter than guns.

Didn't Mythbusters prove you actually can't do that?

You can, just not with an authentic Medieval arrow cause the goat bone/horn (I can't remember which) that's in the arrow buggers up the splitting process.

You can do it with an arrow made of bamboo, if I remember that episode right.

Yes, but doesn't it get caught in the actual tip of the arrow and then not go all the way into the bullseye?

Can't remember, and the Mythbusters Results page is not forthcoming on that particular tid-bit o' info.

I guess if the second arrow was travelling fast enough, it could (in theory) push the first arrow deeper into the target and thus embed itself into the bullseye.

But I'm a Graphic Designer not a Physicist. :sweatdrop:

Follow up question: When will Sandman take the final glorious leap into medievaldom and buy himself a castle? :D
