If you read critics, this book is supposed to be the second coming or something like that.
I read the first issue and I just don't see it. OK, it's a finely drawn comics but the story? Huh?

Have you read Rue Britannia? It comes first, but you don't have to read it to get The Singles Club.
I can see what they are going for with the music as magic angle and the last issue is a fantastic demonstration of what Mckelvie can do on art. However, the whole series is one of the rare books where O'Brien and Kennedy heap lots of praise on it, yet I feel like I just don't know what they are on about. It's as if it's so clever it's completely alienating.
