So in May, Image Comics will release a massive Walking Dead collection. Issues 1-48, in one book, 1088 pages, for $60.

That might be an incentive for me to get it.

So, without spoiling anything, could someone tell me if it's worth it?

MGM

Yes.

MGM

Jezus, $60?! I'm getting that. Glad I never got anything before. $60?!! How will it look?

XIII
02-19-2009, 06:08 AM
Softcover I think.
I'm thinking something along the lines of the Bone One-Volume Edition.

MGM
02-19-2009, 06:14 AM
This is in the sollicits, I suppose? God, I'm getting that.

MGM
02-19-2009, 06:20 AM
And not unimportantly, where'd you learn about the news?

MGM
02-19-2009, 06:24 AM
And VERY important: check Amazon.co.uk. It's listed for 31,50 pounds, which converts to about 33 euros.

Wait a minute...

... Arn.

Why, in the first place, are you not reading it already? This does not compute.

I feel it's actually strange that you are asking the question, "is it worth it", because I would naturally assume you would have pre-existing knowledge confirming that it is, as you are our walking encylopedia of comic knowledge. I mean, if you can tell me about a series like Bone, I expect you to be more aware of a top 3 publisher book. *tut, tut, tut*

Tell me you are reading Invincible? :D

No I don't read Invicible either. Of course I have heard about Walking Dead. I can tell you it's written by Kirkman, it was first drawn by Tony Moore before Charlie Adlard (of Codeflesh fame) took over.
I know it suffered huge delays, I know it's in B&W and I know D totally loves.
What I don't know is : should I read it?
The big zombie thing that is going on at the moment made me want to stay away from it so far.
But I would hate to pass on a great book.

It's the book that SET the zombie craze.

check it:

Ooooh... nice!

yes, you need to read TWD. (Do I really come off as loving it that much?...huh.)

then thank all of us verily for pushing you.

and Invincible, too. Might as well pick up the first 2 trades and don't ask questions. Please just do as you're told.

Well, he could always keep out of the topics about the comic.

So sad is the life of message boarders...

It is not delayed so much anymore. Kirkman has done serious work to get both his books out on time now, and it is working.

MGM
02-19-2009, 03:00 PM
Both? He's writing at least three books.

CountD
02-19-2009, 03:06 PM
Let's not forget the Astounding Wolf-man.

Another kickass title.

Brit got the axe, tho. Which sucked, I liked the story with his sister as the established main character.

Well, how would it look if he went around giving lessons to everyone on online video and yet, couldn't even manage to get 2 books on time?

Both? He's writing at least three books.

I was speaking of the delayed Invincible and Walking Dead.

Astounding Wolf-Man has not had any major delays.

Remember, it started as a bi-monthly title.

That is a great deal. For my 6 paperbacks I paid roughly $10 a piece for them which will come out to the same amount.

As for if its worth it. It's a zombie/horror comic and you said you're not into horror so I don't know if you'd like it or not. I'd recommend reading a few issues (the first entire storyline actually) to see if you like it.

XIII

Aren't you afraid the price might go up? Like, the low price is an incentive to get people to pre-order it and thus ensuring early sales on the book.

MGM

Not really, I'm counting on the Dutch webshop to have a low price. That, and I want to wait a month with it (money!).

No, you can ask a general question since you are trades and I'll ask a more up-to-date one. Eh?

we should also heap a lot of praise on the artist/inker/ etc...or pick the book apart.

Might give us the best shot of getting noticed.

it is weird that the animals aren't 'infected' with TWD 'disease' in the book. dead animals just kinda die.

Kirkman is being a man-bitch ignoring our query. He should answer your question based on the sheer number of people who you've gotten to pick up his work. And that's just on this board.

Mr Wallstreet

It's weird that once you're dead, even if it's from natural causes, you still re-animate.

This, to me, suggests, that the virus is airborne and most people have already been infected and all that's needed is a catalyst to start the process to turn into a zombie. This catalyst of course being a bite.

I'm not gonna brownose Kirkman just to get noticed. I'm already shelling out cash for his product, do I have to stroke his ego as well? Insecure fuckin' writer ;) :D

Incidentally, I began talking zombie films with a few of my co-workers and we all decided that in event of a zombie outbreak, we should designate people who we'd want to kill us if we ever got infected. :D

I ran into the Fathom Compendium yesterday, which is normal comic format. It's not a strange guess to think TWD will be the same.

SPOILERS!

a preacher? I think he's going to divide up the survivors and/or get them into trouble.

Did Carl kill the sociopath kid..or is it implied?

Who is hunting them with assault rifles? Why are they waiting? How many of them should we be expecting?

So many questions--I can see this going another 60 issues. Viva la Walking Dead

CountD
06-05-2009, 03:40 PM
Samantha thinks Carl killed the kid in the van.

We are both suspiscious of the preacher. it's just too crazy.

MGM

I'm thinking it was Carl as well, no clue what the preacher's role is going to be, though.

CountD

Who do you think is hunting them?

MGM
06-25-2009, 02:08 AM
From what I gathered from previews just a bunch of humans who enjoy hunting other humans, because it's more exciting than shooting zombies.

yeah, this series is going great. hit a lull with the prison stuff (well, it just went on a bit too long in there), but it's baaaack!

Mr Wallstreet
09-10-2009, 08:14 PM
The prison lull? You mean volume 9 "The Calm Before"? I didn't that was a lull at all. I thought it was fantastic. Usually in comic series a lull consists of 2, maybe 3 issues of happiness for the cast of characters. Here we got a nice long break after 40 issues of back breaking, nerve wracking travel.

Gonna try to read volume 10 this weekend and give youse guys an update.
