Just watched it. Only pulling power it has on me is Dushku. Well, and Whedon, but I'm not a Whedonite like some people here.

Anyway, premise is not bad, but not great either. And the episode was't really selling it either. I guess I'll catch the next episode as well to make up my mind properly.

Also, what a SCANDALOUS dress Dushku was wearing in the first scene. :D

I agree. The commercials made it seem as though DOLLHOUSE was some type of shadowy off-the-books spy agency that helped people. The first half of the first episode made it seem like DOLLHOUSE is a glorified brothel for the super wealthy. Right now I'm unsure of what DOLLHOUSE really is (as I'm sure many others are).

Also, what a SCANDALOUS dress Dushku was wearing in the first scene. :D

Indeed ;D

I think the premise might best be described as a paid for Global Frequency with 'activates' who have their personality wiped for whatever fits the purpose. Instead of getting the right person, like GF does.

Also, the first scene strengthened my belief in the hotness of Dushku. :D

I felt the same way, the premis is pretty interesting but they could have picked a more exciting story for the first one

MGM
02-17-2009, 08:50 AM
They did start to weave several plots and obvious plotlines for the future in the first episode, I'll give them that. But it wasn't a very gripping first episode.

It doesn't help that Dushku, well hot, is not a good actress.

MGM
02-17-2009, 12:10 PM
True, her emotional range does not include anything emotional. But oh eye candy.

wolf_2099
02-17-2009, 12:45 PM
I have a bad feeling her acting abilities will kill this show,

MGM
02-17-2009, 01:03 PM
Well, to be honest, I didn't watch the show for her acting. I watched it for something like the dress in the first scene. :D

Mr Wallstreet
02-17-2009, 01:44 PM
True, her emotional range does not include anything emotional.

She does "pissed off badgirl" very well. Hell that was what the first 5-10 minutes were when she was speaking to that woman. During that entire scene, it felt she was channeling the episodes on ANGEL where she was trying to seek redemption.

wolf_2099
02-17-2009, 01:45 PM
She still is an awful actress that I would love to defile.

Although I bet she'd be too much for me.

MGM
02-17-2009, 01:49 PM
Judging from her Faith character, yes. She'd kill you. And me. Together.

Mr Wallstreet
02-18-2009, 06:56 PM
And have an orgasm while doing it.

MGM
02-19-2009, 02:58 AM
Absolutely, but I wouldn't mind giving my life while giving her an orgasm. :D

wolf_2099
02-19-2009, 12:35 PM
I would. She is hot, not that hot, though.

MGM
02-19-2009, 12:48 PM
Oh yes, she is that hot.

wolf_2099
02-19-2009, 12:50 PM
Seen pictures of her from real life? She isn't knock you off your feet hot. Hot yes, but not exceptionally so.

MGM
02-19-2009, 12:52 PM
Secretly I agree, but I cannot since my devoting love for Dushku is well-known. And let's face it, every actress looks worse in real life than on screen.

wolf_2099
02-19-2009, 12:54 PM
It's the question of how much worse.
Dushku's biggest plus is the shape she is in, which is very, very good, with a very nice.
But you go to a very cool club or anything like that and you see plenty of girls that look as good, or better than her.

MGM
02-19-2009, 12:56 PM
While that is true, the big appeal that Dushku has and those girl's don't is that she's Faith. :o

CountD
02-19-2009, 02:41 PM
I do not think she's all that.

I did not like this show (granted, first episode, but contrived and not a good premise)

CountD
02-19-2009, 02:41 PM
she is a terrible actor

MGM

You can simply walk out and never return to this topic again. :D

A friend mentioned something to me to, that I felt was missing. The classic Whedon humor was gone. It was unofrtunate, I didn't realize how much I missed it till it was pointed out to me.

MGM
02-19-2009, 02:49 PM
I think this is not Whedon's show, but more a show he works on (I think I read somewhere that Dushku brought him in). I could be wrong about that, though?

Pretty sure you are. I remember reading he developed the show with Dusku in mind as the lead.

I also can't see someone with Whedons history doing something other than his own.

Yup, created by Joss Whedon according to my googling.

CountD
02-19-2009, 03:12 PM
wolf, u r correct.

it did not have many whedonisms or whedonspeak to it.

or the humor..as mentioned.

MGM
02-19-2009, 03:14 PM
Too be honest, too much whedonisms get on my nerves. It was fun in Buffy, it was good it was less in Angel and it was annoying in X-Men.

Mr Wallstreet
03-02-2009, 03:58 PM
Is anyone keeping up with this?

MGM
03-02-2009, 04:01 PM
I found episode 2 to be even worse than episode 1. So far we know she's been active three times and two of those times she simply was an expansive fuck. There's something with a killing active, tralalalala... no, not really interesting.

Mr Wallstreet
03-03-2009, 06:50 PM
<sigh> and I had such high hopes for this show.

MGM
03-04-2009, 02:33 AM
Yeah, and now it's only about eye candy.

Wasn`t that last episode fucking terrible
I couldn`t even finish it.

MGM
03-05-2009, 03:41 AM
Oy, that was by far the worst of them so far. I skipped through the entire thing. The only remotely interesting thing is that Helo's snitch is a Dollhouse active. But fuck, how boring it was.

Mr Wallstreet
03-05-2009, 08:05 AM
Though it seems weak, I am willing to give it tme to grow and wow me.

This is the first of Whedon's shows that I didn't instantly like. First time for everything it seems.

I can't see how this is going to become good. I have yet to see anything good about it, not even the acting or dialogue.

I read an article about this show on Something Awful and bust a gut even though I'd never heard of the show before.

So, isn't that show by that hack Wheddon guy? Must suck huge balls. :D
Also, I can't believe Edbert has contributed any single word to this thread.

MGM

Dare I say the fourth episode was actually okay? I only watched that one because I read somewhere it wasn't bad. And I was surprised: it was pretty good. And no active hired out as an expensive hooker!

Captain Jack
03-12-2009, 06:52 PM
I've watched them all, so far. It's... not a great show, and I don't get the attraction to Dushku, so i don't even have that to cling to. I read an article with her that said the first six episodes are heavily structured by Fox, and that around episode six, Whedon gets a lot of his creative control back.

So... fingers crossed.

MGM

That's stupid, to give Whedon a show and than not give him free reign. Because Whedon does pull in audiences.

That doesn't happen with network TV though. And Dollhouse would never have been picked up by HBO, Showcase, etc.

MGM

Uh oh, the shit hit the fan. Helo met Faith. And the show was actually good. It had a few surprises and a few non-surprises. But all in all, this (ep 6) was by far the best episode.

MGM

Rowr. Dress, stockings, high heels. :D

Rowr. Dress, stockings, high heels. :D

Looked almost exactly what she was wearing during the first episode to me.

MGM
03-31-2009, 12:14 PM
No, that dress was even more scandalous, actually. But the stockings that left just that bit of flesh exposed were rather naughty as well.

So youve kept up with the show? How'd you like the last two episodes?

wolf_2099
03-31-2009, 12:36 PM
I can't understand why people have liked them as much as they have.
Despite being a lot better than the previous episodes, it is still only okay.

The show is till pretty shitty. Dushku's acting is atrocious, and the premise behind it fucking sucks. The only way to make it interesting long term is to have the dollhouses go to war and send Alpha types after each other to destroy them

There is nothing that makes me want to tune in. They only reason I watch it is because I have no TV left Saturday afternoon to watch.

MGM
03-31-2009, 01:48 PM
To be fair, I'm only watching for Dushku, since she's delicious eyecandy. And I like Helo, there's that. But the show itself doesn't really have my interest, that much is true.

wolf_2099
03-31-2009, 03:02 PM
Delicious eye candy really does not work as a lead on a show. Especially one like this where the lead actually needs to be able to act.

MGM
04-01-2009, 02:45 AM
And that's where the factor 'I don't care' comes in, since I don't actually watch the show, but glance at it from the corner of my eye while I'm doing something else. :D

There are rumors abound that Dollhouse may be getting shitcanned

After catching a whiff of this on Warren Ellis’ Bad Signal e-mail list, Blog@Newsarama has done some digging around and found a number of rumors speculating that not only has Fox canceled Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse, but in fact will not even air all 13 of the episodes already filmed.

Fasheem

I hope it's not canceled, I watched it and while it is really stupid, it's all fast-paced and exciting and extremely enjoyable. The utter retardation is a minor flaw.

Also is anyone else finding Caroline to be the most unsympathetic character EVER? God, I hate her. I hope this five years thing is just a front and that she'll be stuck in the Dollhouse forever. Also hoping for some explanation on how such a useless cunt could be The One to get around the mind-wiping and programming.

ALSO when did November have problems that needed to be fixed by letting her go on a vision quest? She was a perfectly behaved slave in every scene I saw.

It isn't really a good show. Accept it and move on.

Even if one has very soft and round features and the other sharp and angular.

Ha, so you are watching it!

I did think that was weird, I mean SHIT didn't her mark work with those people every day?

And people who work in top secret labs performing illegal experiments on human subjects routinely leave stuff open on their computers without even a screensaver password or anything.

And those labs are located on university campuses.

And they don't move them when they have a major security breach.

And they trust grad students with the secret formula.

And campus security carry guns and shoot to kill.

The worst part is, I have a hard time all this bad is all Fox interference.
If it is, Whedon really should have just walked away.

I watch it on the weekend at some point, nothing else on TV.
