Oy, which story is that part of?
Have you not heard tell of the Legend of Drizzt?
http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/7/2007/11/drizzt.jpg
That book is part of the Drow arch in the overall Legend of Drizzt story. There are 13 in that one, and then comes The Hunter's Blade Trilogy and now there's the Transitions series which at the moment consists of 2 books, but there's supposed to be three.
Grand total: 19 books, 3 series.
There's also the off-shoot series, The Sellswords, which has three books and little to no Drizzt.
P.S. I love Todd Lockwood for drawing that. I really do.
Yes yes, I've got 'em all (well, except the last part, I'm waiting for the rest of the series to come out). The Dark Elf trilogy is the best of it all, BTW. But which part of the tale is the book you're reading now? What happens in the book?

Indeed.:D
It's after The Halfling's Gem (where they have to go to Calimport to save Regis). I can't remember what this part of the overall story is called.
Summary of The Legacy: Wulfgar and Cattie-Brie's wedding approaches, but there's friction between the happy couple. Regis unexpectedly returns to Mithrall Hall, but he seems different.
Eventually it's revealed that Regis is Artemis Entreri in disguise and he (with a bunch of drow elves including everybody's favourite mercenary Jarlaxle, Drizzt's sister Vierna and his recently be-driderred brother Dinnin) captures Drizzt and takes him away into the Underdark.
And then there's fighting and Pwent and a "death" of someone important (I didn't really feel that bad for him though).
That was a fairly messy summary, but there it is.
Ah, that one. Can't for the life of me remember who died, but whatever.
Have you read the War of the Spider Queen books (six of them)?

Since you've read them, I'll tell you. It's Wulfgar and he's not really dead. :D
I've seen them, but never picked them up. Are they worth reading?
I figured it was him. I think the character comes out the better from it. He's so whiny before the death.
SpiderQueen books are pretty good, I enjoyed them a lot.

I met this guy once in Baldur's Gate. He helped me win a fight against some gnoles or something and I wanted to kill him and take his stuff but for some reason I can't recall that didn't happen.
I was going to say I liked being Biscie's friend because she's nerdier than me but after that anecdote I'm not sure it's true.

Yeah, probably not. Drizzt is king in fantasy game world.

I didn't know if I'd like the GoW series. I wanted to test it out first so I picked up the first part of the game for $20. Now that I know I'll like it, I'll pick up the second game in a bit.
I'd rather be safe and drop $20 on a game to see how it is. If I didn't like it, it's no big loss because its only $20. But if I'd spent $60 and wound up hating it, I'd just be extra pissed.

Mr Wallstreet
02-24-2010, 07:30 AM
I've been hearing many great things about Crisis on 2 Earths. I'm going to netflix Crisis and buy the movie a little later on.
However, Netflix has recently struck a deal with WB that states that any time a Warner Bros. movie is released on DVD there, will be a 1 month period of lag time from when the DVD is released and when netflix will get it. The purpose of this, I suppose, is to get as many copies of their movies sold in that month as possible. Given the vast volume of Netflix customers and movies WB is probably losing more money on sales now that Netflix is a major player in DVD entertainment.
A question for you guys:
Do you buy your DVDs on Blu-Ray or continue to buy them on regular DVD format?
Tragic Angelus

I bought it, and it was fantastic. More later.
As for the DVD/Blu Ray, I still do DVD because I don't have a blu-ray player, and my entire collection is still DVD. Now, maybe when they do the complete switch over I'll start to move but I want a player first before starting to buy them, even though I don't really care much for the difference so far.

Nope, it's the years when he's still in the Underdark before he gets to Icewind Dale.
It is turning out to be a great little book. It's well bound and the paper is delightful to draw on. :D

Since Cap'n Jack was off work I was able to go (always feel weird going to his work when he's there, fear I'd annoy him or something, lol). I was able to pick up:
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for Wii ($10, luckily it was literally Half Price)
Star Wars: New Jedi Order books 1,2,3,5,6 (I've always wanted to read this series since it completely fucked up the Star Wars universe [first book fucking kills Chewie!]. I had book 4 with the others but I'm anal about book conditions so I put it back, which is funny since when I got in the parking lot I dropped book 5 and put a big ole ding in the corner)
Nope, it's the years when he's still in the Underdark before he gets to Icewind Dale.
Ah, the Dark Elf trilogy! That indeed is a great story. Much better than the Icewind Dale books, which was why I was a bit confused.

The Yiddish Policemen's Union by Michael Chabon
The Long Fall by Walter Mosley
Love and Obstacles: Stories by Aleksandar Hemon
Went to the bookstore with my sister yesterday, on the off chance we did get a massive snowstorm the next few days so we'd have something to read. I had 2 issues of my X-Force run left and no books here since all my stuff's in storage. Went looking for some Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett but they had very little, and I want to find collected works for them. Got the Chabon book after reading Kavalier and Clay, and the other 2 were in a big $4 bin. Mosley's novel is the first in a series about a retired Policemen turned PI, and Hemon's just sounded intriguing, and so far has been. I started it last night as it's the shortest of the 3 once I knew school was canceled and it's been rather good. Just about 25 pages away from finishing it now.

Songs for the Deaf is AMAZING. Let me know what you think of it.
Amazing covers it pretty much. I already knew the album, I'm looking into their other stuff, but somehow I don't get the idea that their other albums are as good as this one. There's a new one due pretty soon, though.
Also, with Temple of the Dog I now only need Mother Love Bone and Core from the Stone Temple Pilots to have the definitive grunge collection.

As far as Queens of the Stone Age go, I have the two they did right after Songs for the Deaf. Lullabies to Paralyze was ok, though I didn't enjoy it very much. Era Vulgaris was a lot more like SftD and I found myself enjoying that one a lot more than Lullabies. But to each their own.
I still haven't tracked down a copy of Rated R though, as when I do it's always over $20, or even up to $30.

I don't know why but recently I've been obsessed with looking at trading cards on eBay. The fact that you get specific rare items in each case made me really want to buy some. I've been looking each day for the last week, exploring different options. Should I get some X-Men? Batman? X-Files? I was even tempted to start getting random packs at my retailers even though he had them for full price (luckily I couldn't bring myself to doing that).
Tonight I finally settled on getting sealed boxes of:
Lost Season 2
Veronica Mars Season 1 & 2
Each has a specialty signature card as well as what's called "pieceworks" which is a segment of clothe that the actors'/actresses' were wearing. Plus some other rare stuff, but those 2 are the main ones I'm eager for. I have specific ones from each box that I'm hoping to get, but I'm just more happy about finally settling my "craving" for a sealed box. This usually hits me every 5 years or so. Last time it was 2 boxes of Marvel Universe v2, I think I still have 1 sealed box somewhere. Had some really sweet hologram cards in it.

.....WHAT?!?!?!...
The original 90s X-Men Animated is the very reason I got into comic books. It's dated, not the best animation in comparison to today, and alters comic stories of course, but like I said, the very very very reason I read comics today.
Wolverine & The X-Men was pretty good too, and I've seen almost all of it. It really kind of blended the 90s animated, X-Men Evolution, and a bit of Astonishing X-Men and sadly only got 1 season.

I got my copy on amazon but I hear it may be going out of print soon. So far I've read a little of SoI. It's pretty dry. Werthem talks about his 7-year research project into reading comics from all genres and how he links them to anti-social and criminal behavior in children.
All the references Wertham makes to comics are linked to his studies on how they adversely affect children. Everyone has been talking about SoI for years so its content doesn't surprise me. When I get further along into the book I'll let you know if its worth getting or not.

I saw The Hunger Games midnight showing and absolutely loved it. I had been avoiding getting the novels because 2 of the 3 books in the US are hardcover-only and I'm not a fan of hardcovers (too clunky, in my opinion) but seeing the movie forced my hand. And the soundtrack was really great, it had a Blue Grass feel yet used non-Blue Grass artists (The Decemberists, Arcade Fire, Taylor Swift, Maroon 5).
The 2 novels from Amber Benson are part of her Caliope-Reaper Jones series and I somehow had no clue a novel came out last year and a new one less than a month ago. Not sure when I'll read them, but at least I have them for if I want to.
Repossession Mambo is what the movie Repo Men was based on. It's written by the author of Matchstick Men, a novel I absolutely loved which means I know I'll love this writing style.
